Motor City Hoop Jam, Fri 2 Jul 2010

What: Motor City Jam Church!

Where: 23 Club
23 Visitation Ave
Brisbane, CA

Who: Honey Hoops with DJ support from
OddNumber (Motor City Jam)
Zenith (TekAndHaus)
boomBot (Motor City Jam)
Eartender (Motor City Jam)

Join us this Friday as 2 crews are putting together their toys to treat your ears and eyes. Motor City Jam crew on decks and Honey Hoops with their - well hoops. Motor City Jam was looking to get out of your computer and give you some grooves on real sound system and inside real venue. Honey Hoops was looking for DJ crew to spin with and not beside. Now we found each other and all we need is you to witness this tiny peace of history. Come and get down with us, watch us feeding on each others beats and moves, go with the flow, or jack your body, or bounce around, or just stand by and look good - we got you covered.
And speaking of cover, this night is free as in 'free love' or 'free speech'. Sure the place is a bit out of the way but if you love techno, you should know by now that techno always loves you back so why not get a bit out of your way for the love of it - wildest things never happen in downtown anyway ;)

Behind the decks, moving your high heels and platform boots alike:

And in case you missed it:
-ITS FREEEEE!
-NO COVER.
-NOBODY TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS.

Hella Lot of Love, DJ Zenith live @ the Big Love Show

Remembering 9-11, my own personal story

I'll never foret 9-11. I worked @ washingtonpost.com. I lived less than 5 miles from the pentagon.

I had gotten back from my morning run before work. Back when I had a TV, I was in the habit of turning it on before work in the morning to watch the news while I did my "after run" stretching.

i turned it on just after the first plane had hit the one tower. i thought i was watching a clip from a new movie coming up. i hadn't yet comprehended that i was watching an actual plane getting ready to fly into the pentagon down the road

i called my boss. didn't even understand what he said... he said something in mumble speak and hung up. i knew better then to call back. i just headed to work as fast as i could...

that day of work will be etched in my brain forever. the washingtonpost.com technology team broke up into different tasks to help our website stay up during the extraordinary traffic.

my job was to monitor 5 of our web servers for potential hacks. other team members took all non-essential high-bandwidth hogging programs off of the front page and onto a 2nd front page in order to make our front page highly available.

we knew everyone would be on our site all day checking on loved ones and we knew it needed to stay up. we were the only major news website who stayed up with 98% availability that day!!! we were proud of that!

all of our lives were changed forever that day. not for the least of reasons that if i had stayed on my old career path from 2 years prior that i might have been with one of my old co-workers who died in the pentagon.

let us never forget all of those extraordinary human beings that lost their lives trying to save others. let us never forget.

remembering 9-11....

DJ AM, what a tragedy

It sucks that we haven't learned from the past. It sucks that the benzos they prescribed for DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, for anxiety after his plane crash last year triggered a relapse for him after 11-12 years of sobriety. Apparently benzos are tricky and have done this to other people. Why did they prescribe them for him? Was there nothing else?

What a tragedy.

Here's the video here:

Holey Sh*t, Part DOH!!!

Seriously. 31.73 GB and it's the 7th of August 2009. China has downloaded 25 GBs.

I have to call my website provider but I'm dreading it. What if they tell me it's gonna cost a zillion dollars??? But I have to call on Monday because yesterday was an 8.69 GB day and today is already at 4.79 GBs.

I've been posted and reposted... Serious viral marketing.

I'm afraid to that it's a miserable download experience also. Well what can I say... hit download and hurry up and wait?

Thanks for your patience!

Holey Sh*t

Seriously. My website statistics monitoring program has had China downloading about 25 GBs per MONTH from me.

But now they updated their engine to include my new stuff... And it's 5 August 2009 and they've already downloaded 17.05 GB. Did I mention it's the 5th of August?

5.5 GBs so far today. TODAY.

I'm actually going to have to have to call my website hosting place as I will be going over 100 GB which is my upper limit of data transfer. I don't know what happens then.

I was @ 85 GB last month although only 65GB was "viewed" versus robot traffic.

I don't think the website hosting place cares. I think they will charge me big $$$ whether a robot is to blame or not. Ugh.
